Meet The Becklers
Thank you for checking out our page. We would like to introduce ourselves to you.

We live on a farm in Wayne County Ohio, where we raise Shorthorn seed stock and grow row crops that we use to feed our cattle, for freezer beef. Our family consists of three boys that have grown up on the farm and they have each started their own herd. We began our Shorthorn herd in 2015, Greg had commercial cows in the past and sold them. The boys were interested in having cows again, so a family decision was made. We all decided if we were going to raise cattle we wanted them to be purebred. We decided on Shorthorns because of their docility, maternal traits, and ability to perform on the rail. We love watching our herd grow and improve each year.

Lane graduated from high school in 2022 and loves to work on fixing the equipment used on our farm. His pride and joy is his Cockshutt 1855, which he was able to purchase with his own money. Lane previously worked at Maibach Tractor in the Machining Shop. Lane earned his Precision Machining Certification from the Wayne County Schools Career Center. Lane is currently working off the farm for his father-in-law on oil wells. He has his own baler and manages to custom bale when he is not baling on the farm. Lane was active in his FFA chapter as the Student Advisor Officer. Lane has received his Greenhand, Chapter, and State Awards. Lane won the Beef Production-Entrepreneurship Proficiency Award for District 3 of the Ohio FFA in 2020. The basis for his project was his Shorthorn herd. He earned his American Degree in 2023. In June of 2025, he married Abby, and they live close so they can help with running the farm. Abby has horses and loves to use her horses to help with the cattle on the farm when needed. She works for a crop insurance company.

Luke graduated from high school in 2023. He has a very calm, natural way with our cattle. He is always able to break the toughest animals, making the process appear effortless. Luke earned his welding certification at the Wayne County Schools Career Center. Luke has started his own custom welding business. He enjoys visiting different local farms to help with repairs on existing machinery, as well as building custom fencing, corrals, or other necessary structures. Luke was able to work at Jungels Shorthorns, helping with the welding for Northland Sires. This was an exciting opportunity for him. When he is not welding or helping run the farm, he enjoys spending time at cattle shows fitting cattle for area kids who are showing.

Aden is finishing up high school this year; he has always enjoyed looking at the pedigrees and studying the EPD numbers. He especially enjoys visiting other Shorthorn breeders' farms and relating his knowledge of the owners’ herds. We have to watch the mail for any Shorthorn magazines and catalogs... they typically are taken by Aden and studied. He watched his brothers begin their herds, and he was not allowed to begin yet, so he spent his time learning what he could. He is proud of the donkey that he purchased to help break cattle on the farm. His heifer, PVF Nita 19F, Nita is his favorite animal. He is in 4-H this year. He is responsible for all the feeding on the farm, and his favorite job is hauling manure, which is a full-time job! We are excited to see what path Aden will take next year.

Jen’s role on the farm is to provide food for the farm boys and visitors. She is a 4th-grade teacher for students in a rural school. In her free time, she enjoys baking, canning, gardening, and reading.
Greg works away during the day as Purchasing Manager for Eco Flo Products. He comes home and works on the farm with the cattle and the crops. He dreams of the day when he can retire and farm full-time.
We hope this helps you get to know us a little bit better. We would love to show you our cattle and learn about your operation. Our joy has been watching our children grow and pursue agricultural avenues for their careers. Getting involved with the National Shorthorn Association has been a joy for us as we have made many new friends. We are blessed to get to know like-minded people who desire to breed the best cattle possible. Please call us to schedule a visit.
