Around the Farm
Come follow along with us for updates on life on the farm. We will periodically update you on what is happening!

Fence Project
In January of 2026, the family worked on driving posts and building permanent fencing on a portion of our home farm. The late nights, cold weather, and snow posed a greater challenge but didn't stop the crew! I am amazed to see how the family works together, physically and mentally, to solve daily problems that arise.

Calves are Coming!
Calving season began on January 12th with our first JSF Lennon bull calf. We have enjoyed watching the JSF Lennon progeny quickly acclimate to their new surroundings. They are proving to be very spunky! In January, we tagged six bulls and three heifers! It will be interesting to see just how even our bull/heifer ratio will be. Of those calves, we had five that were roan and zero white! In February, we tagged 37 calves. We are expecting right around 100 calves this year, so our season is still in full swing.

Prep for the Bull Sale
The preparation that the family puts in to get ready for the bull sale is interesting to watch. I enjoy listening to the boys all talk about which bulls they should continue to feed and prepare to become bulls and which need to become steers. Then comes the grooming and feeding to help the bulls get into the best physical condition they can be in. The hours the crew spends on watching, blowing, and clipping is insane! This is just part of the process, and they seem to enjoy it. Aden is in charge of feeding; he also helps a good deal with washing and blowing them out. Luke is our clipper; he can be found with his AirPods listening to his favorite podcast or songs as he clips along. Abby (Lane's wife) has put time in wherever needed, either on the wash rack or on a blower. Lane will fill in as needed as well, but he will be the first to tell you his interest lies in keeping all our equipment maintained and running.
